The former governor of Rivers State and erstwhile transportation minister, Rotimi Amaechi has disclosed the reasons why his camp avoided confrontation with supporters of the former governor of Anambra State and 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
According to his statements which were made available to the general public by VANGUARD on Saturday May 2nd, 2026 he pointed out that all they wanted was peace, as violence was not the solution to the nation's crisis.
Rotimi Amaechi, also a Chieftain of the African Democratic Congress, ADC had come under intense public scrutiny following announcements that he was interested in contesting for president under the ADC platform.
However, supporters of the former Anambra governor who believed that the ticket should be given to him (Peter Obi), were not impressed with the former transportation minister's presidential ambitions.
The former Rivers State governor, widely admired for his calmness, made it known that they were aware of the verbal attacks, but refrained from giving responses because they wanted peace.
“It’s not because we don’t know English or we cannot reply. The reason we don’t reply is that we always want peace.” Rotimi Amaechi said.
