Okere Kingdom, a legal practitioner and member of the NDC, has said that a large number of Nigerians still want Peter Obi to run in the 2027 presidential election, believing he represents a chance for meaningful national improvement.
Speaking in a video broadcast by SYMFONI TV on Sunday, May 10, 2026, Okere explained that he and several others were pushed out of the ADC.
He added that recent actions by Obi indicate a strong public push urging him to re-enter the presidential race.
He argued that many citizens who support transparency and better governance view Obi as a figure of hope, especially at a time when economic hardship and social challenges remain widespread in the country.
According to him, Obi’s political direction reflects the expectations of Nigerians who are calling for change.
In his words, he noted that their group experienced internal difficulties within the ADC, leading to their exit, and maintained that Obi’s recent steps demonstrate a wider national appeal for him to appear on the ballot in 2027.
Okere further suggested that this growing public sentiment is the main reason behind Obi’s current political relevance and continued calls for him to participate in the upcoming election.
