Anambra is not controlled by the APC, I Do Not See Anambra people Voting Against Peter Obi—Akeregha

Igho Akeregha, President of the Civil Liberties Organisation (CLO), has raised serious doubts about Atiku Abubakar's political standing, pointing out that the former Vice President cannot even secure loyalty in his own home state of Adamawa.

Speaking on SYMFONI TV, Akeregha said: "In Adamawa State, Atiku's own home state, he has not been able to persuade Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to remain firmly with him politically."

He then posed a direct question: "Can we therefore say he has complete political control over his own state?" His answer was blunt, no.

‎Akeregha shifted attention to Labour Party's Peter Obi, noting that while Anambra Governor Charles Chukwuma Soludo has not always aligned with Obi politically, the state remains outside APC's grip. "Anambra is not controlled by the APC. It remains under the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA)," he said.

‎He added that Obi continues to command strong goodwill among Anambra voters. "Peter Obi is still loved in Anambra State. I do not see Anambra people voting against Peter Obi," Akeregha stated.

‎Drawing a contrast between both candidates, he argued that voters in Adamawa may simply follow their governor's political direction and back the APC, giving Obi a comparatively more solid home base.

Akeregha concluded that current political sentiments across the North do not support an immediate return of power to the region, suggesting that the mood on the ground is shifting away from northern presidency advocates ahead of the next electoral cycle.
