Chidi Odinkalu Reacts To Peter Obi's Comments That He Was Troubled By The Obi Of Onitsha Igwe Achebe

Chidi Odinkalu, a renowned human rights activist and former chairman of the national human rights commission has taken to his official X handle to react to the comments made by the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi regarding the traditional ruler of Onitsha ancient kingdom, Obi Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe.

According to the statements which were shared on his official X account on Sunday June 21st, 2026 he disclosed the lessons learned from the remarks made by the former governor.

Mr Peter Obi, it can be recalled, stirred massive controversies after he disclosed that he was troubled by the traditional ruler of Onitsha, Obi Nnaemeka Alfred Achebe during his tenure as Anambra State governor.

His comments, which many believed was humourous, however drew massive public reactions as many interpreted his comments differently. 

The statements were made during the celebration of the traditional ruler's 85th birthday in Onitsha.

Chidi Odinkalu, widely known for his candid opinions, pointed out that the lessons learned from Mr Peter Obi's message was that a leader cannot succeed if he surrounded himself with incapable advisors.

"The morale of the story should be very clear: You can never get anywhere as a leader by surrounding yourself with folks from the neighborhood of Lilliput." He wrote.
