A heated exchange occurred during a Senate committee meeting investigating allegations involving former Mele Kyari.
In a video shared by AIT News, Senator Tony Nwoye informed the committee that he had personally spoken with Kyari about a week earlier and received assurances that he would appear before the panel.
However, Nwoye said he later learned that Kyari had travelled to Germany and was currently hospitalized there.
While presenting the information, Nwoye was interrupted by Senator Onyekachi Nwebonyi, who attempted to raise a point of order.
The interruption sparked a tense moment during the committee session, with Nwoye expressing frustration and insisting that he be allowed to complete his presentation.
The senator argued that it was the committee's responsibility to determine whether to proceed with actions such as issuing a warrant for Kyari's arrest.
According to him, his duty was merely to relay the information he had received regarding Kyari's health condition and whereabouts.
Speaking during the session, Nwoye said, "Onyekachi Nwebonyi, what do you mean by that? Can you now overrule me? I'm not his lawyer, but he cannot stop me from talking.
Onyekachi Nwebonyi, you can't do that to me. Allow me to finish my presentation. What do you mean by that? How can you overrule me? I'm duty-bound."
The exchange occurred as members of the committee deliberated on Kyari's failure to appear before the panel.
