Former Minister of Transportation and former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi has opened up about one of the most difficult periods of his political career, revealing that his relationship with former President Olusegun Obasanjo was once characterized by intense political conflict. Watch full video 

Amaechi made the disclosure during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, where he reflected on key moments that shaped his journey in Nigerian politics. 

The former governor discussed the challenges he encountered while pursuing leadership positions and the opposition he faced from some of the country's most influential figures.

According to Amaechi, one of the strongest sources of resistance came from Obasanjo, who was Nigeria's president during a critical stage of his political rise. 

While speaking about the experience, Amaechi claimed that the former president made efforts to stop him from becoming governor of Rivers State.

“Obasanjo tried to stop me from becoming governor, he even put me in jail,” Amaechi said during the interview.
