Amaechi made the revelation during an interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, where he spoke about politics, personal relationships, and experiences involving key figures in Nigeria’s political landscape.

According to Amaechi, the incident occurred during a Holy Communion service in church, when congregants were kneeling to receive the sacrament. He said he was unaware that Obi was positioned beside him at the time.

“Peter Obi knelt beside me in church during Holy Communion and I didn’t know it was him,” Amaechi said.

He explained that it was only after he became aware of Obi’s presence that he decided to engage him on a matter that had been troubling him, relating to political claims and public statements surrounding a past election.

Amaechi stated that he raised concerns about honesty, emphasizing that truthfulness is especially important during sacred religious observances such as Holy Communion.

He said he questioned Obi on remarks connected to the election and challenged him to be sincere before God in that moment.

According to Amaechi, he asked Obi to affirm whether he had truly won the election in question and suggested that he would be willing to resign from public life if such a claim could be proven truthful before God.
