Terror Related Deaths Are Down By 81 Percent Since 2015 - President Tinubu

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has reiterated his administration's commitment to improving security across Nigeria, revealing that the country has recorded a significant reduction in terror-related fatalities over the past decade.

Speaking during an engagement on Friday, June 12, 2026, the President pointed to what he described as measurable progress in the fight against terrorism and insurgency.

According to him, security operations carried out by the nation's armed forces and other security agencies have yielded positive results, helping to reduce the impact of terrorist activities in several parts of the country.

Emphasizing the gains made since 2015, Tinubu stated that the number of deaths linked to terrorism has fallen dramatically. In his words, "Terror related deaths are down by 81 percent since 2015."

The President presented the figure as evidence of the efforts made by successive administrations and security institutions to tackle insurgency, banditry, and other forms of violent extremism that have threatened national stability for years.

He noted that while security challenges still exist, the statistics demonstrate that Nigeria is making steady progress in restoring peace and protecting lives.

Tinubu further stressed that his government remains focused on strengthening intelligence gathering, enhancing military capabilities, and supporting security personnel in their efforts to safeguard communities across the country.
