Speaking during an appearance on LiveNOW from Fox with host Josh Breslow, Chandler made the remarks while discussing President Donald Trump’s recent attendance at the NATO summit in Turkey.
He suggested that the country’s border controls may not be strong enough to prevent small teams from crossing undetected with sophisticated weapons.
Referring to the potential threat, Chandler said, “If we recall, he was at the NATO summit in Turkey, and Turkey doesn’t have the best border security.
So a small team could easily infiltrate through Turkey, bring some shoulder-fired SAMs that’s easy to smuggle through the mountain passes out there and attempt to go after Air Force One.”
Chandler connected his concerns to reports that Israel had shared intelligence with U.S. officials about an alleged new Iranian plot against the president.
He argued that Iran’s history of confronting the United States, combined with vulnerabilities along Turkey’s borders, made the president’s visit particularly sensitive from a security standpoint.
He also said the threat extended beyond the overseas trip, claiming that Iran could continue to pursue its objectives through proxies or operatives already present in the United States.
According to Chandler, the episode illustrates what he believes is an evolving strategy by Iran to target senior U.S. leadership.
