The disagreement comes after an Anambra State High Court in Onitsha granted Obi permission to serve court documents on Okonkwo through substituted means after attempts to personally deliver the documents were unsuccessful.
The court directed that the legal documents be pasted at Okonkwo's last known residence in Nsukka, Enugu State, or handed to any adult found at the address.
The lawsuit followed allegations made by Okonkwo claiming that Obi and some leaders of his political movement in the South-East requested additional payments from aspirants seeking National Assembly tickets. Okonkwo also alleged that Obi personally compiled candidate lists from a hotel room in Abuja.
Obi's legal team denied the allegations and responded with a pre-action letter demanding that Okonkwo withdraw the statements, issue a public apology on Channels Television and social media, pay ₦5 billion in damages, and undertake not to make similar allegations in the future.
