Speaking during an interview on Politics Today aired on Channels Television, Sheriff reacted to Obi's call for President Bola Tinubu to resign, arguing that anyone seeking Nigeria's highest office must clearly demonstrate commitment to the country's unity and territorial integrity.

According to Sheriff, Obi's political position raises concerns because, in his view, the former governor has not publicly distanced himself from the agitation for Biafra.

"Peter Obi, up to this moment, is pursuing the division of Nigeria because he believes in Biafra," Sheriff said.

He further alleged that Obi has not openly condemned the Indigenous People of Biafra, adding that this has fueled questions about his commitment to a united Nigeria.
