Amaechi Was Speaker In Rivers State For 8 Years, Governor For 8 Years,& Minister For 8 Years -Momodu

In a recent interview on Arise TV, Dele Momodu, ADC Chieftain, spoke on the political experience and public service record of former Rivers State governor Rotimi Amaechi, describing him as one of Nigeria’s most seasoned political figures.

He emphasized the value of experience and institutional memory in national leadership.

According to Momodu, “Rotimi Amaechi was Speaker in Rivers State for eight years, governor for eight years, and minister for eight years.”

He noted that such a trajectory reflects rare continuity in governance and deep familiarity with Nigeria’s political and administrative systems.

Momodu explained that Amaechi’s years as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly provided him with a strong legislative foundation, while his two terms as governor exposed him to executive decision-making and state-level governance challenges.

He further stated that Amaechi’s tenure as Minister of Transportation added federal experience, particularly in managing large infrastructure portfolios and navigating complex national policy environments.

According to Momodu, this blend of legislative, executive, and ministerial exposure is uncommon in Nigerian politics.

He added that as Nigeria prepares for future elections, parties like the ADC must leverage individuals with proven experience and capacity.

Momodu stressed that effective leadership requires not only popularity but also tested competence, consistency, and a clear understanding of governance at all levels.
