I Pay 250k To Enugu And Tinubu In New Year Message Talking About Fraudulent Inflation Figure—Kenneth Okonkwo

A senior member of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Kenneth Okonkwo, has strongly criticized President Bola Tinubu over statements made in his New Year address to Nigerians.

According to a report by Daily Post, Okonkwo accused the president of being dishonest in his assessment of the country’s economic situation and warned that such claims would persist throughout 2026.

Reacting to the address delivered on Saturday, January 3, 2026, Okonkwo faulted Tinubu’s assertion that the new year would usher in a stronger phase of economic growth.

He argued that the statement indirectly acknowledged the administration’s failure to deliver meaningful progress over the past three years.

Okonkwo also challenged the president’s claim that inflation had dropped to 15 percent, insisting that the reality faced by ordinary Nigerians contradicts this figure.

To support his argument, he cited the sharp rise in transportation costs, particularly air travel.

According to him, a one-way flight from Abuja to Enugu that previously cost about ₦57,000 has now increased to roughly ₦250,000, reflecting a significant surge in living expenses.

Okonkwo described the inflation figures presented by the government as misleading and embarrassing, noting that many Nigerians are struggling with rising prices.

He further accused the administration of incompetence, claiming that despite nearly three years in office, it has yet to initiate impactful projects that justify its promises.
