According to the report from SYMFONI TV, Workers of the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) on Monday openly confronted the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, calling for his resignation over what they described as the collapse of the system under his leadership.

The workers, who expressed deep dissatisfaction with the minister’s style of governance, accused him of dismantling existing administrative structures and disrupting the normal functioning of the FCT since assuming office.

Besides expanding the bench, the bill also includes provisions for the electronic and visual broadcasting of court proceedings and updates certain legal terms to reflect current operational standards.

A similar amendment has been proposed for the Federal High Court Act, also enacted in 2004. President Tinubu wants the number of justices increased from 70 to 90.

Originally, the Federal High Court was established with 50 justices, but this was later expanded to 70 in 2009.

The President argued that the court now faces a heavier workload and requires more judges to manage it effectively.

Tinubu highlighted emerging national challenges such as terrorism and taxation, emphasizing the need for additional justices with specialized skills in these areas.

He believes the expansion will strengthen the court’s capacity to address complex cases more efficiently.

In addition to the bills, President Tinubu also forwarded the name of Oyewole Joseph to the Senate for confirmation as a Justice of the Supreme Court.

The proposals are now pending Senate review as part of efforts to enhance Nigeria’s judicial system and improve the administration of justice.
