President Tinubu Sends Bills To Senate To Expand Appeal Court And Federal High Court Benches

According to report by Tribune News on Tuesday, January 27, 2026, President Bola Tinubu has sent two bills to the Senate requesting an increase in the number of justices serving on both the Court of Appeal and the Federal High Court.

The proposals were presented in a letter read by Senate President Godswill Akpabio during the lawmakers’ return from their holiday recess in Abuja.

The first bill seeks to amend the Court of Appeal Act of 2004 by raising the number of justices from the current 70 to 110.
