In a recent post on Channels tv, former Senator Thompson Sekibo has declared that the Rivers Ijaw People's Congress will work to prevent Governor Siminalayi Fubara from securing a second term in office.
Sekibo made the declaration on Monday during a political visit by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike to Abua-Odual Local Government Area in Rivers State.
Speaking on behalf of the Rivers Ijaw People's Congress, the former senator described Governor Fubara as ungrateful and announced his group's support for the minister.
According to Nwogu, Fubara also told his followers that they did not fully recognize the extent of support he had received from Nyesom Wike, describing him as his political “Oga.”
Nwogu interpreted these remarks as an indication that Fubara was seeking a path toward reconciliation and a political solution to the crisis.
Nwogu further noted that after the emergency was lifted and Fubara returned to office, the governor’s conduct seemed to diverge from the commitments made during that period.
In Nwogu’s words: “Remember, he went to his people in church and said his spirit had already left Government House at that time.
He also said that they didn’t know what his Oga had done for him, meaning the FCT minister.
He hinted that he was trying to work something out, and in fact, he was almost strict with his supporters, telling them there was no Sim Movement and that they should stop.”
