In a recent interview on Arise TV, Dr. Paul Moses Ogidi, the candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) election, reiterated his rejection of the declared outcome of the poll.
The election, which ended with the announcement of Christopher Maikalangu of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as winner, has continued to generate debate among political stakeholders and supporters across the Federal Capital Territory.
Speaking during the programme, Moses insisted that the results did not reflect what he believes transpired at the polling units.
He quoted the headline, stating, “I actually won the election; I did not lose it, but someone else was declared the winner,” adding that preliminary results and reports from his agents suggested he had secured significant support in several areas before collation was completed.
According to him, irregularities during the process, including alleged disruptions and concerns raised by party representatives, contributed to what he described as a disputed outcome.
He maintained that democracy must be anchored on transparency and the accurate transmission of results, emphasizing that the credibility of elections depends on adherence to established procedures.
Moses further explained that his campaign was built on grassroots engagement and community outreach, and he believes the energy recorded during the campaign demonstrates strong voter connection.
While electoral authorities have defended the integrity of the process, the ADC candidate said his team is reviewing all available information as part of ongoing consultations.
He concluded by calling for calm among supporters, urging that any disagreements over the outcome be addressed through lawful and institutional channels, while reaffirming his commitment to democratic principles and accountable governance.
