If Its The Akpabio I Know Because We Were Govs At The Same Time,He Doesn’t Think It Matters–Amaechi

Rotimi Amaechi, the former governor of Rivers State and ex-minister, has voiced his strong support for the electronic transmission of election results during a protest at the National Assembly. He believes that e-transmission could potentially save lives and mitigate violence associated with elections in Nigeria.

In a video clip shared by TV Platinum, Amaechi highlighted the dangers people face during elections, as politicians and their backers clash over control of results at polling stations and collation centres.

He argued that implementing electronic result transmission would ease tensions during elections, reducing the risk for individuals who might feel compelled to manipulate outcomes.

Amaechi noted a stark disparity; while ordinary citizens are exposed to danger during elections, many influential politicians remain safeguarded at home with robust security measures.

He emphasized this disconnect illustrates how leaders are often detached from the struggles faced by the populace during flawed electoral processes.

He cautioned that if citizens remain passive, election rigging will persist.

He urged Nigerians to actively demand credible elections and to safeguard their votes through peaceful means.

When asked about the protest's potential impact, Amaechi expressed skepticism, suggesting that some politicians may undervalue citizens' concerns, reflecting a broader issue in leadership.

Moreover, he criticized the government's lack of responsiveness to insecurity, claiming that action tends to be taken only under international scrutiny.
