Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, has criticized Peter Obi for his participation in a protest at the National Assembly on Monday.

In a Facebook post on Monday, February 9, 2026, Ossai expressed deep disappointment, labeling Obi’s appearance as a ploy to score cheap political goals rather than a sincere act of advocacy.

Ossai concluded by stating that the intentions behind the former presidential candidate's actions were transparently opportunistic.

He wrote, "I am disappointed in Peter Obi for joining a protest to the National Assembly knowing fully well they are not on seat. It’s more disappointing seeing Peter Obi posters at the protest. Peter Obi being there was not from a genuine heart but a score a cheap political goal. Oga Peter Obi Intentions are disappointing and I am disappointed."

The protest, which took place earlier today in Abuja, was organized by a coalition of civil society organizations led by the Nigeria Civil Society Situation Room.

The demonstrators converged on the National Assembly to voice their frustration over the legislative delay regarding the Electoral Act (Amendment) Bill 2026.

The primary demand of the protest is the mandatory inclusion of real-time electronic transmission of polling unit results to the IReV portal, a measure activists believe is essential to safeguard the integrity of the 2027 general elections.

Peter Obi joined the protest to demonstrate solidarity with these demands for greater electoral transparency.
