IREV: Until It Lands On President's Table, He'll Have The AGF And Legal Luminaries To Look At It -Dare

Presidential aide Sunday Dare has revealed that President Bola Tinubu will consult with the Attorney General of the Federation and legal experts before deciding on the proposed electoral reform legislation.

Speaking during an interview with Arise TV, Dare outlined the president's review process once the bill reaches his desk.

"Until it lands on the president's table, and when it gets there, the president has that leverage and opportunity to have the AGF and some legal luminaries to sit with him, his special advisers, to look at it and decide on what he's going to do," he explained.

The presidential aide expressed confidence in Tinubu's democratic credentials while emphasizing that any decision would consider Nigeria's current realities.

"But I can assure you that President Bola Tinubu, a renowned democrat and progressive of note, will do what is right, but it will not be in isolation of the realities of our country," Dare stated.

He questioned whether Nigeria's infrastructure could support completely electronic electoral processes, drawing comparisons with international practices.

"Are you telling me that this country as it is is networked enough to have a 100% electronic process? In other countries, there are still ballot papers and there are forms that are signed.

All those things are there, and there's still real-time transmission," Dare argued, defending the Senate's decision to maintain paper documentation alongside electronic transmission as a balanced approach to electoral reform.
