According to a report by Nigerian Tribune, the leader of INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has inaugurated a mosque he built and dedicated to Mrs. Abibatu Mogaji, the mother of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The mosque was commissioned on Saturday, February 14, 2026, during the cleric’s annual thanksgiving program held in Oke-Afa, Lagos State. The event drew prominent personalities from religious, political, traditional, and entertainment circles.
Speaking at the event, Ayodele said the mosque was built in obedience to what he described as a divine directive, stressing that he has no intention of controlling its operations, as it would be handed over to a Muslim cleric.
Addressing public perception about his relationship with President Tinubu and Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the cleric said:
“People see me as someone who hates Tinubu or as an APC critic, and I think that’s why Governor Sanwo-Olu doesn’t respond to our letter of invitation, but it doesn’t matter.”
He maintained that naming the mosque after the president’s mother was not politically motivated but based on what he described as God’s instruction.
