Reactions Trail What Sani Said As US Lawmakers Propose Sanctions On Kwankwaso Over Terrorism Claim

There have been several reactions from social media users after former Kaduna lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani commented on the terrorism allegation that was levelled against former governor of Kano state, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso by US lawmakers.

The statement of Senator Shehu Sani was contained in a post that he shared on his official X handle on Thursday, February 12, 2026.

According to THE CABLE, US lawmakers have introduced a bill at the country’s house of representatives seeking to compel the secretary of state to submit a comprehensive report on US efforts to address the ongoing religious persecution and mass atrocities.

The report further stated that If the proposed legislation becomes law, Rabiu Kwankwaso and some of other people in Nigeria will be sanctioned.

However, Senator Shehu Sani has now shared his thoughts after the report surfaced online. In a post that he shared on his official X handle, he said the former governor of Kano state is not an extremist.

Here is what Senator Shehu Sani wrote on his official X handle;

"Senator Kwankwaso has never been an extremist who condoned, supported or encouraged any act of religious persecution, violence or discrimination. 

His conduct while in office can be verified. It should also be noted that in some cases, the leadership of Miyetti Allah and Kautal Hore are targets of bandits".

However, after the post surfaced online, there were several reactions from social media users.
