According to a report by The Times of Israel, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) on Friday released video footage showing air strikes on an underground military bunker in Tehran, previously associated with former Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
The IDF stated that a fleet of 50 Israeli fighter jets successfully targeted and dismantled the bunker located beneath the leadership compound.
“50 Israeli Air Force fighter jets dismantled Ali Khamenei’s underground military bunker beneath the Iranian regime’s leadership compound in Tehran,” the military said, sharing the aerial footage.
Officials explained that the bunker had been built as a secure facility for directing military operations in emergencies.
The IDF said it was destroyed before it could be used during Operation “Roar of the Harrier.” Following Khamenei’s death, the site continued to serve as a command hub for senior Iranian officials.
Friday also saw additional strikes across Iran and Lebanon as Israel announced plans to escalate the ongoing conflict into a new phase.
Now in its seventh day, the war has drawn in international powers, disrupted global energy and transport systems, and spread unrest even to typically stable areas.
Early Friday, loud explosions were reported over Tehran as Israeli forces targeted what they described as “regime infrastructure.” Internet access in the city has reportedly fallen to about one percent, according to monitoring group Netblocks, making it difficult to assess conditions on the ground.
Streets that are normally busy were largely deserted, while security forces maintained strict control over movement in the capital.
The IDF’s operation marks a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iranian-backed forces, highlighting the widening regional implications and the potential for further destabilization across the Middle East.
