Many Of Them Came To Power With The Idea Of Turning Their State Into Dubai, Where's The Dubai?– Sani

Former senator Shehu Sani has questioned the promises and track records of some Nigerian political leaders, arguing that many of them have already had opportunities to make significant changes but failed to deliver.

Speaking during an interview on Mic On Podcast, Sani suggested that leaders like Rotimi Amaechi, Peter Obi, and Atiku Abubakar would not have governed differently if they had won the 2023 presidential election.

According to him, these figures have all held powerful positions in government at different times, yet there is little evidence of groundbreaking ideas or transformation.

He pointed out that many politicians often campaign with big promises, including plans to turn their states into world-class cities similar to Dubai. However, Sani questioned why such visions have not been fully realized even after years in office.

Sani also argued that President Bola Tinubu shares similar political thinking with many of his rivals, though he believes Tinubu’s activist background slightly shapes his approach to leadership.

In addition, Sani criticized the opposition, particularly the African Democratic Congress (ADC), claiming that many individuals now presenting themselves as alternatives were part of past governments that contributed to Nigeria’s current challenges.

In his words, "Many of them came to power with the idea of turning their state into Dubai and whatever, but where's the Dubai?"
