"Those Leaders In The ADC, A Number Of Them Were Those Who Actually Formed The APC – Seriake Dickson

According to a report by Punch on Monday, March 30, 2026, former Seriake Dickson has raised questions about the ideological direction of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the party as lacking a coherent political vision.

Dickson, who recently left the Peoples Democratic Party to join the newly formed Nigeria Democratic Congress, made the comments during an interview with AIT’s Focus Nigeria on Monday.

He argued that the ADC appears to be a gathering of former founders of the All Progressives Congress (APC), whose departu"Those Leaders In The ADC, A Number Of Them Were Those Who Actually Formed The APC – Seriake Dicksonre from their own party highlights internal challenges rather than any clear political philosophy.

Dickson observed that many of the leaders now involved with the ADC were instrumental in the formation of the APC.

He suggested that their move to the opposition party reflects dissatisfaction with the APC experiment rather than a well-defined ideological objective.

According to him, this raises questions about the ADC’s ability to present a clear alternative to existing political options in Nigeria, as its leadership appears to be united more by circumstance than by a shared vision or policy framework.

While acknowledging the prominence and influence of several ADC figures, Dickson emphasised that political stature alone does not guarantee coherent governance or ideological clarity.

He noted that a party’s strength lies not only in its leadership but also in its principles, policies, and ability to address national challenges.

By contrast, he argued that the ADC’s current composition signals a continuation of the same political elite who had previously shaped the APC, which may limit the party’s capacity to attract broad-based support.

Dickson also highlighted the importance of ideological consistency in building public trust and credibility.

He argued that citizens are more likely to support parties that have a clear mission, consistent policies, and leaders committed to long-term national development.

In his view, the ADC’s current trajectory, dominated by former APC founders, could undermine its claim to offer a genuine alternative and weaken its potential to make meaningful political impact in upcoming elections.

He said, “Those leaders in the ADC, a number of them were those who actually formed the APC."
