Wike Is Building Duplexes For Judges Because He Needs Them To Subvert The Course Of Justice—Sowore

‎In a recent statement via his official X account, human rights activist and former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore, has criticised the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, over the construction of duplexes reportedly built for judges in Abuja.

‎"Criminal politician Nyesom @GovWike never built duplexes for FCT resident doctors because he doesn’t need Nigerian doctors; his doctors are in the UK. He never built houses for teachers because his children don’t attend Nigerian schools.

But he is building duplexes for judges because he needs them to subvert the course of justice," he wrote.

In his post, Sowore questioned the priorities behind the initiative, according to him, the government has not shown the same level of commitment to providing housing or welfare support for other professionals such as doctors and teachers.

‎He argued that these groups also play vital roles in national development and deserve similar attention from authorities and suggested that the decision to focus on housing for judges raises concerns about the motives behind the project.

‎He alleged that such gestures toward the judiciary could be aimed at influencing the justice system and claimed that political leaders may attempt to gain favour with judges through government-funded benefits.

‎Sowore criticised Wike personally, accusing the former Rivers State governor of neglecting the welfare of other sectors while prioritising projects that benefit the judiciary, according to him, doctors and teachers across Nigeria continue to struggle with poor working conditions, inadequate infrastructure, and limited government support.

‎He further argued that government officials should focus on policies that improve the lives of a broader section of the population, in his view, investments in healthcare and education should be treated as urgent national priorities.
