According to a report by Daily Post on Monday 30 March, 2026, an American missionary, Alex Birbir, has strongly criticized Bola Ahmed Tinubu following the killing of residents during a Palm Sunday attack in Plateau State.
The incident occurred in the Gari Ya Waye community of Angwan Rukuba in Jos, where gunmen suspected to be terrorists reportedly killed several people on Sunday evening.
The attack triggered protests on Monday, as angry residents took to the streets demanding urgent government action to end the persistent violence in the region.
The killings have once again drawn attention to the ongoing security challenges in parts of Nigeria, particularly in Plateau State, which has experienced repeated outbreaks of violence.
In a viral video circulating on X (formerly Twitter), Birbir accused the Nigerian government of failing to protect its citizens.
He questioned the president’s response to the killings, expressing frustration over what he described as repeated inaction while innocent people continue to lose their lives.
He also suggested that the situation reflects a broader pattern of violence that authorities have not effectively addressed.
Birbir’s remarks have sparked renewed public debate about security and governance in Nigeria. His comments also referenced earlier international concerns, including the decision by Donald Trump to designate Nigeria as a “Country of Particular Concern” over allegations of violence against Christians.
However, the Nigerian government has consistently rejected claims that such violence amounts to genocide, maintaining that the situation is more complex and not driven by religious targeting alone.
