‎A 44yr old officer, was murdered in front of his wife, what did Oshiomhole do about it?—Ogene

Honourable Afam Ogene, Minority Caucus Leader of the House of Representatives under the NDC and lawmaker representing Obaaru Federal Constituency in Anambra State, has weighed in on the security record of former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi, drawing a contrast with the tenure of former Edo State Governor Adams Oshiomhole.

Speaking on SYMFONI TV, Ogene said the insecurity that drove many people out of their states elsewhere never took hold in Anambra under Obi. 

"It was because of these actions that he fled, along with several others like him. We didn't have these kinds of issues," he said.

He added that the community policing model now spreading across Nigeria began with Obi. "Today, years later, the Nigerian state is now moving toward community policing, which Mr. Obi pioneered in this republic," Ogene said.

‎Turning to Edo State, Ogene recalled the killing of a senior aide to then-Governor Oshiomhole around 2013. 

"On the flip side, look at what was happening in Edo around 2013, even Governor Oshiomhole's own principal private secretary, one of his closest aides, a 44-year-old serving as chief security officer, was murdered in front of his wife and children," he said.

Ogene questioned how Oshiomhole responded to the killing. "I don't know what Governor Oshiomhole did about it," he said. 

He went on to say that Oshiomhole became better known for demolishing the homes of political opponents, clashing repeatedly with traditional institutions, including the Oba, and tearing the roof off the State House of Assembly building over fears that lawmakers were plotting to impeach him.
