In a recent interview on Symfoni TV, on Thursday, June 18, 2026, Kassim Afegbua, Edo State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, commented on internal disagreements within opposition political circles and the role of individuals who publicly criticize party decisions.
During the discussion, Afegbua was asked about reactions from some opposition supporters and activists regarding developments within the National Democratic Coalition (NDC) and the broader opposition movement ahead of the 2027 elections.
Speaking during the interview, Afegbua stated, “If Aisha Yesufu feels so pained, she could as well go and start a party and be its sole owner.”
He made the remark while responding to criticisms and concerns expressed by some individuals about the direction and management of opposition political structures.
He noted that no organization can function effectively if every member expects decisions to align exclusively with their personal preferences.
The Edo Commissioner further argued that political engagement requires compromise, consultation, and respect for collective decisions.
He maintained that individuals who are dissatisfied with the operations of a political platform have the option of pursuing alternative political arrangements if they believe their views are not adequately represented.
Afegbua also stressed the importance of unity among political stakeholders, especially at a time when various groups are seeking to strengthen their positions ahead of future elections. He suggested that internal disputes should be resolved through dialogue rather than public confrontations.
He concluded by stating that political organizations must remain focused on their broader objectives, adding that sustaining unity and discipline within party structures is essential for achieving long-term political success.
