According to a report by DAILY POST on Thursday 11th June 2026, former presidential aide, Bashir Ahmad, has predicted that Peter Obi and Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso may eventually leave the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) if the party fails to meet their political expectations.
Ahmad made the assertion in a post on his verified X account, where he described the alliance between the two politicians and the NDC as largely driven by the 2027 presidential election.
According to him, Obi and Kwankwaso are currently focused on using the party as a platform to pursue their electoral ambitions; He argued that should those ambitions remain unfulfilled, both politicians could seek another political platform ahead of the 2031 elections.
The former presidential aide also suggested that the long-term objectives of NDC leader Seriake Dickson differ significantly from those of Obi and Kwankwaso.
He stated that Dickson appears more interested in building a strong and enduring political movement capable of positioning him for a future presidential contest, rather than concentrating solely on the 2027 election.
Ahmad noted that the contrasting political goals within the party could make it difficult for the alliance to remain intact over time; He maintained that while Obi and Kwankwaso may be focused on immediate electoral success, Dickson is pursuing a broader and more strategic political project.
