Shehu Sani Reacts To Comment Of South African Captain That People Are Attacking Them At World Cup

One of the chieftains of the All Progressive Congress, APC and former Kaduna lawmaker, Senator Shehu Sani has reacted to the statement that was made by the captain of South Africa, Ronwen Williams.

The statement of Senator Shehu Sani was contained in a post that he shared on his official X handle on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

In the video that was shared on the official X handle of South African Broadcasting Corporation, SABC, Ronwen Williams stated that people have been attacking them at the World Cup over things he didn't say.

Here is what he said;

"I have been targeted in the last few days about things I didn't say. I didn't speak anything about Africa or people supporting Mexico. 

As Africans, we are one. We support each other in good and bad moments. My country has also been attacked for things that are going on".

However, Senator Shehu Sani has now shared his thoughts after the post surfaced online. In a statement that he shared on his official X handle, he said the South African players are paying the price for the behaviour of the xenophobic mobs in their country.
