Peter Obi has reacted to recent remarks by prominent cleric Enoch Adeboye concerning President Bola Tinubu and the country’s security situation, saying that while the President may be making efforts, the key issue is whether those efforts are sufficient to address Nigeria’s growing challenges.

Speaking during an interview on With Chude, Obi expressed respect for Adeboye, describing him as one of Nigeria’s most revered religious leaders whose prayers and contributions have played an important role in the nation’s stability over the years. According to Obi, he holds the cleric in high regard and believes his views deserve serious consideration.

The former Labour Party presidential candidate said he agreed with Adeboye’s assessment that Tinubu is trying his best to confront the insecurity facing the country. 

However, Obi argued that acknowledging effort is different from evaluating results, stressing that the effectiveness of government policies should be measured by their impact on the lives and safety of citizens.

According to Obi, the central question Nigerians should be asking is not whether the President is trying, but whether his best efforts are producing the outcomes needed to address the country’s pressing security concerns. 

He noted that insecurity remains a major challenge in many parts of the country, with citizens continuing to face threats from banditry, kidnappings, terrorism and other forms of criminal activity.

Obi maintained that leadership should be judged by performance and the ability to deliver solutions to national problems. 

While he acknowledged Adeboye’s comments as fair, he suggested that the current administration has not done enough to meet the expectations of Nigerians who are looking for improved security and better governance.

In his remarks, Obi stated that he believes President Tinubu has done all he can under the circumstances but questioned whether those efforts are adequate for the scale of the challenges confronting the nation. 

He further argued that the country requires leadership capable of delivering more effective results in tackling insecurity and improving the welfare of citizens.

The comments have added to the ongoing national conversation about the government’s handling of security issues, with supporters and critics of the administration continuing to debate the effectiveness of current strategies.
