Wike: Please tell Pres Tinubu not to bother coming to Gokana Local Government to campaign-Magnus Abe

The Rivers State House of Assembly has rejected a ₦100,000 payment credited to lawmakers’ personal accounts on the directive of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, describing it as illegal and unauthorized.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday by Enemi George, Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Petitions and Complaints, the funds were returned immediately. He emphasized that all public spending must receive legislative approval.

Members reportedly received alerts for the ₦100,000 on December 30, 2025, but the House noted that neither the request nor the approval for the payment had come from the legislature.

George accused Governor Fubara of repeatedly withdrawing funds from the state’s consolidated revenue account without due process since assuming office in 2023, arguing that such actions violate the Constitution and Supreme Court rulings. TO READ MORE, TAP HERE.
