Fubara Has Told His Followers That This Assembly Is Nothing More Than A Toothless Bulldog —Amaewhule

The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Martins Amaewhule, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of allegedly undermining the authority of the legislature by portraying it as ineffective.

Amaewhule claimed that the governor had encouraged his supporters to disregard the Assembly, describing it as powerless and irrelevant.

He said such comments, if true, pose a serious threat to democratic governance and the principle of separation of powers in the state.

Amaewhule warned that attempts to weaken the legislature could further deepen the ongoing political crisis in Rivers State.

Amaewhule insisted that the House of Assembly remains a constitutionally recognised arm of government and will not be intimidated. “Fubara has gone to tell his followers that this Assembly is nothing more than a toothless bulldog,” he said.

We want to make it clear that we are elected representatives of the people, and we will continue to discharge our duties without fear or favour, no matter the level of intimidation or ridicule.
