Makinde: How Can You Warehouse N30 Billion,Even The Interest Rate Will Be N4B, Say The Truth -Fayose

Former Governor Ayo Fayose has responded to the Oyo State government's assertion that the 30 billion naira intervention fund allocated to the state following the Bodija explosion remains unspent in a designated bank account.

In an interview with Arise TV, Fayose highlighted that President Bola Tinubu provided this 30 billion naira to assist victims of the tragic incident and aid in the rehabilitation of the affected areas.

He emphasized that Governor Seyi Makinde should express gratitude for the president's support, calling it a significant gesture.

Fayose expressed confusion over why the funds have remained idle in a bank account instead of being utilized appropriately.

He noted that the money could have accrued nearly 4 billion naira in interest by now. Fayose insisted that Governor Makinde and the state government should be transparent about their management of the funds.

He mentioned that the Oyo State government had committed to disclosing the account holding the funds, and he urged them to honor that commitment.

Fayose stated: "How is it possible to let 30 billion naira sit idle? The interest alone would be around 4 billion naira. They must be honest.

They promised to publish all the details of the account where this money is held; they need to do that."
