We've Video Evidence That The So-called Godfather Attended That Impeachment Meeting– Benjamin Okaba

During the Channels Television interview, Professor Benjamin Okaba made an allegation about the involvement of a political godfather in the impeachment process against Governor Siminalayi Fubara.

Speaking between 09:49 to 10:15, the President of the Ijaw National Congress said, “we have video evidence that the so-called godfather attended that impeachment meeting, and nobody has come forward to deny it,” linking the claim directly to the standoff between the governor and the Rivers State House of Assembly.

Okaba said the alleged presence of the godfather at the meeting raised serious questions about the independence of the lawmakers who were driving the impeachment proceedings.

He suggested that the silence following the release of the video was significant, as no party had publicly disputed the authenticity or implications of what was shown.

According to him, this development added another layer of controversy to the already tense relationship between Governor Fubara and members of the state assembly.

He said the crisis could no longer be viewed as a simple legislative matter, given the alleged external involvement now being discussed in the public space.

The INC president noted that the situation had shifted the political conversation in Rivers State, especially among communities that were closely watching the impeachment process.

He added that the lack of a denial only strengthened public speculation about who was influencing the lawmakers.
