The former governor of Anambra state and Labour Party, LP, candidate in the 2023 presidential election, Peter Gregory Obi has accused the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of preventing him from participating in the forthcoming election in 2027.
His statement was contained in a report that was published on the official X handle of CHANNELS TV on Sunday, February 15, 2026.
He made the statement while explaining the reason why he left the Labour Party to join the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
In the report that surfaced online, the former governor of Anambra state claimed that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, intentionally failed to recognize the leadership of the Labour Party.
He said Tinubu's administration is trying everything possible to ensure that he doesn't participate in the forthcoming presidential election in 2027 but he will contest.
Here is what Peter Obi said;
"The Federal Government doesn’t want me on ballot paper but I want to assure you that I will contest the coming election even if it holds in their bedroom and if they don’t want to transmit the results, we will transmit it for them".
